General Description:
Operates and drives Class B mammography coach that travels to locations statewide and requires overnight stays out of town one to six days per week. Additionally, must be available on call to cover team, as necessary. Responsible for registering, directing patients, and for patient safety. CDL Drivers are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the mobile mammography coach in accordance with State, City, and Mobile Team Driver Safety Policies and cell phone safety usage policies.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Requires overnight travel - up to six days per week.
- Must be available on call to cover team to meet ever changing demands of a statewide mobile program.
- Books lodging reservations for statewide travel.
- Submits weekly expenses to finance department.
- Verifies directions to location and confirms travel schedule.
- Arrives at mobile coach parking site, disconnects from shore power, stores heavy power cable in underneath compartment and secures.
- Starts generator and readies coach for travel.
- Completes “walk around” inspection prior to travel.
- Checks engine oil, transmission, power steering, radiator, windshield washer fluid, wheel lug nuts, tires, generator oil and coolant, lights, horn, wipers, observes if any fluid leaks are evident under or around the vehicle and generator and leveling system.
- Monitors engine sounds, generator rpms, air bags, breaks, etc. during travel.
- Reports potentially unsafe conditions.
- Contacts next day location to verify parking and details.
- Confirms safe travel during tornadic weather, severe weather, winter ice, snow or strong wind advisory with mobile program director.
- Applies salt to steps and surrounding area for safe entry of patient as necessary.
- Assists patient into and out of the coach.
- Reviews patient registration for accuracy, ensures all appropriate paperwork and copies are present.
- Demonstrates knowledge of related terminology associated with mammography.
- Calls office to verify date of last screening on “walk in” patients.
- Completes forms and maintains records, accession sheets, and reports of work performed.
- Secures patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicates with mobile office for any changes to the days schedule.
- Closes down the coach, secures radiologic equipment for travel, disengages entry step and leveling system, and drives to next location.
- Responsible for scheduling routine preventive maintenance for vehicle engine and generator
- Inspects onboard fire extinguishers and ensures yearly professional inspection.
- Responsible for deep cleaning of coach and maintaining a clean work environment during the work week.
- Replaces road lights and interior lighting.
- Problem solves and coordinates with mobile program director during mechanical issues.
- Interfaces with mechanics concerning mechanical problems and solutions and maintains vendor relationships.
- Responsible for calling tow truck and waiting for repairs.
- Delivers and picks up coach for required maintenance and repairs.
- Responsible for keeping the coach stocked with supplies.
- Responsible for delivering paperwork and laptop images to the fixed site at the end of the workweek.
- Delivers coach to parking, disengages generator, removes power cable from storage compartment, plugs in to shore power, performs visual walk around and fluid inspections, and secures coach.
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: None. One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Experience: (1) year minimum of truck driving experience required
OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Class B Commercial Drives License, and clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain a fast paced work environment, to work alone, and be self-monitoring.
- Must be familiar with mechanical concepts and willingness to apply them.
- Flexibility to meet ever changing mobile schedules.
