General Description

Under limited direction, works with emergency medical services providers and physicians to increase patient volume. In addition, works with the hospital and physician leadership team to support ongoing growth opportunities in this area.  

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Emergency Medical Services (EMS)/first responders, other hospitals and the community for transports and referrals to OU Health Hospitals. 
  • Responsible for patient volume growth directly to OU Health and indirectly through specialty physicians.
  • Attends meetings with EMS administration to discuss services at OU Health as well as other issues. 
  • Maintains accurate records related to efforts and programs to grow patient volume. 
  • Works in collaboration with the leadership team to plan, develop, implement and evaluate business plan strategies to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Functions as a point of contact to ensure proper action/resolution for provider/referral source and patient issues.
  • Prepares and presents monthly reports, identifying trends and opportunities, as well as obstacles to growth and retention.
  • Collaborates with other EMS Liaisons across OU Health for synergistic opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience with pre-hospital and hospital emergency medical services and providers required. Progressive responsibility in a leadership role preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current license issued by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a Paramedic required.  Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.  PALS (American Heart Association) required within 3 months of hire if employed at Oklahoma Children's Hospital.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of basic hospital policies and procedures and medical terminology. 
  • Knowledge of EMS systems, planning, organization and processes. 
  • Knowledge of regulations, policies, protocols and scope of practice of pre-hospital care providers. 
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to successfully network with individuals and groups regarding services provided.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills. 
  • Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills.
