Shift Available: Part-Time, PRN
The Stephenson Cancer Center at Norman Regional Chemotherapy Infusion Center at is an adult outpatient facility in Norman with 12 patient treatment bays, treating roughly 40 patients daily with Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, blood transfusions and iron products each day. We will be expanding to 24 treatment bays with the opening of the brand-new cancer center on the west side of Norman in June of 2025. This is a fast-paced, team-centered environment that requires great communication skills and the ability to multitask. Our department orientation includes one-on-one precepting and becoming ONS certified to be able to administer Chemotherapy, so we welcome candidates who are willing to learn a new specialty.
General Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Chemotherapy and Administration and Consultation: Administers PO, SC injections, chemotherapy drugs, and other medications as ordered by physician: consults with other medical personnel and may provide expert information about chemotherapy, side effects, etc.:provides a variety of assistance to physicians
- Assumes responsibility for clinic specific assignments
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients
- Assists physician during conscious sedation patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary
- Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products
- Delivers patient care competently
- Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the clinic, time of discharge, and continued care via phone triage
- Informs patient and family of clinic procedures
- Patient Education: Provides chemotherapy related educational information to patients, family, etc.: answers inquiries and provides guidance as appropriate
- Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel
- Delegates tasks to support staff
- Patient Follow Up: Schedules patient follow-up activities related to their treatment and assists with coordination of care by obtaining referrals and completing phone calls with the patients after their clinic visits
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
Experience: At least 1 year in the capacity of an RN in a healthcare Environment
License(s) Certification(s) Registration(s) Required:
- Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire
- Obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 30 day of employment
- Obtain Association of Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nursing Biotherapy Certification within 90 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Computer skills
