Job Description:
General Description: The Director of Development is responsible for helping to shape the major gifts program for hospital priorities through the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift prospects for the benefit of OUH and its mission. Will focus on adult or pediatric medicine fundraising.
Essential Responsibilities:

Works with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the Hospital President(s) to establish measurable, achievable, and aspirational goals to deliver results in all assigned areas. Goals and metrics will be established and evaluated annually.
Qualifies and manages a major gifts portfolio of high-capacity, high-profile donors. Identifies, cultivates and solicits primarily gifts of $50,000 or greater from individuals, foundations and corporations.
Communicates directly with OUH leadership, donors, prospects, and their advisors.
Creates and implements strategies for specialized campaigns/initiatives and directed fundraising projects, including the creation of a grateful patient program, donor giving societies and other initiatives to engage prospective donors.
Fosters robust fundraising pipeline to major gifts
Represents the OUH Office of Development in the professional and philanthropic community.
Travels to conduct cultivation and solicitation visits
Develops goals and objectives and continues to monitor, measure and evaluate them Identifies, assesses and qualifies suspects for addition to portfolio from an array of resources.
Identifies existing donors capable of increasing their annual gifts and develops and executes fundraising strategies and/or events to achieve measurable upgrades.
Selects, trains, mentors, evaluates, and counsels staff as appropriate.
General Responsibilities:
Participates in activities of the OUH Office of Development.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience with a minimum of 3 years of increasing responsibility in major gift fundraising, preferable in the health care and/or non-for-profit arena.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None Required, Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CRFE) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills to interact with senior management, board members and other high-level volunteers, donors, physicians and prospects.
Demonstrated ability in thinking strategically to acquire, engage, upgrade, and steward donors.
Evidence of effectiveness in building and sustaining relationships with donors, staff, partners and physicians.
Goal oriented, problem solver with excellent organizational skills to execute multiple priorities.
Ability to persuade and motivate others.
Ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders and to adapt to meet varying needs and conditions.
High degree of professionalism, collegiality, maturity and diplomacy required.
