Job Description:

Reporting to the Transplant Quality Manager, this position is responsible for managing data collection, analysis and reporting to improve quality and patient safety outcomes at OU Health. Will manage projects and educate and train associates, physicians, and leaders in quality data measurement. Manage the UNET and solid organ databases (UNOS and Phoenix) as week as data captured for other pathway quality improvement initiatives.  Focus on timely and accurate data entry of clinical variable into the database(s).  Will work to capture and document elements of demographic and clinical information such as medical management, medication intake, lab values and anticoagulants.  Will use this data to report query results to internal program staff. 

This position is not available for remote work and requires onsite Monday thru Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the OU Health expert on quality data analytics and reporting, including qualitative and quantitative quality metrics.
  • Design and implement structures and processes for analyzing quality data from numerous sources to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Identifies and Implements industry-wide best practice related to quality data capture and reporting.
  • Stays up to date on trends and innovations in healthcare quality data management.
  • Provide expertise, vision, and insight regarding healthcare regulation and measurement.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve overall performance in quality and patient safety for OU Health.
  • Develop intuitive quality and safety dashboards and other visual systems to communicate KPIs in a clear and concise manner.
  • Trains and coach’s leaders on accessing and using quality data, including running reports and interpreting performance.
  • Assist with overall management of publicly reported measures such as Leapfrog and CMS Hospital Compare; develop predictive analytics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Practice and adhere to “Code of Conduct.”
  • Collect data from the EMR, ancillary charts, and weekly clinical conferences, and enter into regulatory databases. 
  • Create and maintain databases for patient management and clinical tracking
  • Monitor non-compliance with documentation and bring to leadership to make recommendations related to area that need improvement.
  • Utilize EPIC reports to identify solid organ transplant patients based on their clinical phase to input into the pathway/UNET
  • Perform medical record chart review
  • Assist in accurate input of data into UNET TIEDI forms (TCR, TRR, TRF, and Living Donor)
  • Verify information, collects, and enters all appropriate data into appropriate database to keep registry current within allotted deadlines and regulatory measures.
  • Maintain database information on current status of all pre-transplant patients
  • Assist with entering and editing data in EPIC/Phoenix for post-transplant recipients
  • Develop data collection tools and quality checks to identify discrepancies or errors.
  • Monitor and maintain accuracy and completeness of data entry
  • Enter information from source documents into databases compiling data for review.
  • Serve as active participant in Transplant quality improvement work through.
  • Assist with patient deaths or graft failures notifications and complete regulatory forms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Health Informatics, Statistics, Data Science, or other related field required. 

Experience: 3 years of related experience required.  Experience working in a healthcare setting is preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A passion for healthcare quality and patient safety excellence.
  • Must be proficient in data analysis and visualization.
  • Broad database management and spreadsheet application proficiency (e.g., SQL, Excel).
  • Ability to interact and connect with people is required.
  • Able to present to leadership groups with skill in summarizing data into actionable information.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills required, with an emphasis on attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Vizient Clinical Quality Database (CDB) experience highly preferred.
  • Advanced biostatistics and data modeling skills highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare quality regulations .
  • Epic experience a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification desirable.
