Location: University of Oklahoma Medical Center
Shift: Full Time (36 hours/week), 7P-7A
SEA Core/Float Pool offers a unique opportunity to RNs, who are looking to practice in multiple skill sets. Each shift can look different as employees will help serve units in need.
Less than one (1) year of experience is preferred for this position. If you have more than one (1) year of RN experience, please search for positions titled “Experienced RN” to start the application process.
The OU Health Nurse Residency Program provides the graduate nurse with resources and rich experiences that will serve as a strong foundation for a successful nursing career. OU Health nurse residents receive guidance and support from a primary preceptor and clinical education specialist to successfully bridge the transition from student to professional practice. The program features ongoing structured learning opportunities for residents, a strong social support network, mentoring and preparation to obtain national certification in their chosen specialty area. Candidates must have a current RN license or compact RN license to practice in Oklahoma prior to beginning the program and have less than one year of RN clinical experience to be eligible to enroll in our Nurse Residency Program.
General Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Provides a flexible workforce to supplement the inpatient and/or outpatient nursing units.
- Assumes responsibility for the management and delivery of patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Obtains a history and assessment and documents finding. Examples include but are not limited to, the chief complaint, allergies, current medications, system functions, and the immunization status of patients.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in the nursing notes.
- Assists the physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as needed.
- Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Monitors for side effects.
- Delivers patient care competently and delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate.
- Interacts with family and patient in sharing the care plan as applicable.
- Assists with coordinating hospital admissions to the unit as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Experience: None.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate Compact RN License (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association) required within 3 months of hire.
The Level NG Pediatrics Critical Care SEA Core RN will be in a part-time or full-time FTE position and commit to serving in one (1) hospital (OCH) and one skill set-Critical Care/Step Down.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Some computer skills.
