Location: Oklahoma Children's Hospital
Shift: Full - Time (10 hour shifts, 4 days/week) 6:30am-5pm w/rotating call requirements.
The pediatric Cath lab/EP lab is a small close group that works hard to take care of a wide variety of patients with differing levels of congenital heart disease or arrhythmias. We see patients as newborns through adult hood and perform many different procedures such as ablations, ICD/Pacemaker insertions, diagnostic heart caths, pulmonary valve replacements, and PDA/ASD closures just to name a few. We see high risk, very complex patients requiring ICU levels of care and low risk patients that can go home the same day after their procedures. We see something new or different every day which keeps our job interesting and encourages us to be continually learning and improving!
Under general direction, this full-time RN position serves as a member of a highly specialized multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and allied-health professionals to provide advanced-level diagnostic and interventional pediatric cardiology services to neonatal through adult patient populations presenting with simple to complex, and often high-risk congenital heart conditions, defects and associated conditions or diseases.
General Description:
Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients.
- Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
- Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Delivers patient care competently.
- Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge.
- Informs patient and family of hospital procedures.
- Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegates tasks to support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
Experience: N/A
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ACLS (American Heart Association) required within 6 months of hire. PALS (American Heart Association) required within 3 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees. Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills.
