General Description:
Under direct supervision, performs tasks involved in the preparation and distribution of medications checked by a licensed Pharmacist including IV admixtures and sterile hazardous drug preparation. Performs drug accountability tasks for Clinical Trials and communication with sponsors, monitors and Clinical Trials Office staff.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Maintains IV room/preparation area stock of IV base fluids and additives
- Prepares IV admixtures and documents work
- Prepares chemotherapy drugs and other sterile hazardous drug preparation.
- Subsequent to verified order entry by a Doctor of Pharmacy, places properly packaged medication in labeled containers to be verified by a Doctor of Pharmacy.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to meet USP 797 and 800 guidelines
- Assists buyer in receiving, checking in and shelving of medications when received
- Provides support for drug purchasing staff including unpacking stock, filing, assistance with paperwork, and other duties
- Performs monthly out of date audits
- Manages the clinical investigational drug inventory and documentation including maintaining par levels, reordering, receiving, returning Investigational Product (IP), managing IP expiration updates, patient IP returns and destroying expired IP. Maintaining updates on protocol specific reorder forms.
- Managing and documenting temperature excursions of IP.
- Provide technical assistance with clinical trial protocols including, but not limited to, knowledge of investigational pharmacy equipment and drug preparation, organization of electronic study binders with all required documentation, and set-up for all clinical trials.
- Maintain information and assist in the record keeping related to clinical trials required by the study protocols.
- Review patient orders daily to verify all documentation is collected and recorded accurately according to SOP and study specific requirements
- Participate in preparation of investigational products for pharmacist verification in accordance with protocols and established procedures
- Assist in maintenance and proper functioning of equipment used in the investigational pharmacy.
- Verbal and written correspondence with Clinical Trial sponsors, monitors and Clinical Trials Office.
- Assists with preparing documents for FDA, study initiated and internal audits
- Participates in ongoing Clinical Trials training and updates
- Participating in daily physical count to prepare for monitor visits. Conducting quarterly inventory of study provided drug.
- Preparation of transfers of Investigational Product to and from the hospital and documents according to study protocol requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: None required
Experience: Minimum one year experience as a Pharmacy Technician required. Experience in a hospital setting preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Permit as a Pharmacy Technician by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy when eligible within the first six weeks after placement in this position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of general science and math.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Must have good interpersonal skills for developing effective working relationships with staff and coworkers.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to achieve thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing tasks
- Knowledge of pharmacy and medication protocols, including sterile hazardous drug preparation.
