General Description:

As a leader of an integrated team of Education Specialists, promotes a healthy professional practice environment and supports interprofessional collaborative relationships within OU Health. The Clinical Education Manager, serves as a change agent, mentor, and leader and fully supports the Nurse Residency Program (NRP) all professional development activities at OU Health. Ensures that educational needs are identified, assessed, and prioritized and that the curriculum is developed and delivered to achieve results.

 • In collaboration with/support of the various nursing, ancillary and support department leaders and other colleagues within the organization, works to successfully meet the educational needs of OU Health.
• Responsible for hiring, promoting, discharging and transferring of employees
• Communicates effectively, both written and verbally, through all levels of OU Health to promote a healthy practice environment.
• Provides educational leadership and expertise within OU Health to achieve specific outcomes
• Participates in performance improvement activities, assists with maintaining accreditation and regulatory standards
• Ensures that the Education Specialists maintain clinical expertise in assigned area(s), continually monitoring for and incorporating changes in evidence-based practices, demonstrated best practice, and patient/client population data.
• Ensures that the clinical education specialist serve on one or more teams accountable for supporting core OUH orientation, Nurse Residency Program and continuing education/professional development activities
• Works collaboratively with leaders, clinical and other experts, and colleagues throughout OUH to identify educational needs and practice gaps and design programs to address these needs.
• Utilizes evidence based knowledge and standards of practice to plan, design, implement and evaluate educational activities to address the identified needs and achieve specific outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) degree

Experience: 3 to 5 years progressive leadership experience required including 5 years experience to include combination of relevant clinical/technical practice and responsibility for educational functions/processes

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:  Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).  Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Expertise, knowledge and skills to fulfill the full role, inclusive of Professional and Clinical Competence, , Evidence Based Practice, promoting Lifelong Learning and collaborating with a diversity of professionals to deliver educational and professional programs. Managerial skills sufficient for organizing, developing and supervising a department and staff. Demonstrates creativity and innovation in assessing for/addressing adult learning needs in a Academic Medical Center environment. Ability to work collaboratively in a highly integrated environment, with both direct and indirect reporting relationships. Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication. Demonstrates ability to utilize a diverse range technology including simulation to achieve educational goals and outcomes. Evidence of personal plan for professional development and continuous learning.
