General Description:

Under limited supervision, researches, designs and implements unit specific and facility wide access control systems. 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position.  Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position. 

  • Researches, designs and implements unit specific and facility wide access control systems.  Includes both manual and automated system solutions that enhance and support OU Health operational and business performance.
  • Works closely with management to determine operational requirements and needs for developing solutions and optimizing performance of existing access control systems.
  • Assists in the design or customization of software and systems for optimizing operational efficiency and improving business processes. 
  • Supports all users of applications, equipment and systems.
  • Provides timely implementation and ongoing maintenance of manual locking systems, door hardware and automated access control equipment.
  • May oversee the work of and assign tasks to other workers.
  • Maximizes performance through efficient and effective use of the computer system.
  • Installs and maintains typical door hardware normally associated with the Locksmith trade and with automated building access control systems.
  • Provides training on new or customized systems to all users.
  • Maintains and enhances a technical body of knowledge. 
  • Reads, attends appropriate training/educational programs, benchmarks with colleagues and otherwise remains abreast of contemporary and best practices. 
  • Seeks to continually improve processes, systems and consequent services. Uses tools and equipment appropriately. 
  • Provides the information necessary to maintain the system of metrics designed to measure effectiveness and timely responsiveness to work order tickets created through appropriate dispatch service. 
  • Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment.  Adheres to all safety policies, procedures and practices, including the wearing of protective clothing and gear.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education: None required.

Experience: 2 or more years of experience in the related field of technical specialty,.  4 or more years of experience preferred.  Healthcare or similar environment experience preferred.

OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.   

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

  • A high level of analytical ability is required in order to interpret and resolve complex technical issues, sometimes requiring original solutions in circumstances where the work product or service affects the design and operation of critical automated access control systems and equipment within OUH. 
  • Some interpersonal communication skills are required to interact with others and discuss complex and sophisticated concepts and systems.
  • Must have and be able to demonstrate strong technical knowledge of equipment normally associated with their area of expertise.
  • Will be required to occasionally work with external groups to identify external security risk to the campus and aid in resolving issues identified.  External groups may consist of, but are not limited to the following groups: OU Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, State Department of Health, Fire Marshalls Office.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools
