General Description:

The Sr. IT Project Manager manages multiple large scale Information Technology projects.  Strategizes, implements, and maintains Project initiatives that adhere to organizational goals and objectives. Develops Project management plans to support execution and delivery of each project deliverable. Maintains organizational goals of people, quality, service, growth and finance. Oversees multiple IT and business project teams, ensuring Project goals are achieved. Manages budget and funding channels for maximum productivity of each project. Provides advice to lower level IT project managers.

  • Organizes projects and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Develops new Projects to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Creates and manages long-term Project, project goals, and objectives.
  • Drives Project deliverables through to successful completion.
  • Develops and manages required Project budgets and operating plans.
  • Develops an evaluation method to assess Project strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Captures Project funding needs to support uninterrupted execution of the Project.
  • Manages teams with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities, in an IT and Hospital setting.
  • Ensures goals are met in key performance areas including, but not limited to employee/peer satisfaction, patient safety, service quality, and project team performance.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with external vendors.
  • Implements and manages changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Meets with sponsors and stakeholders to communicate and foster transparency regarding project issues and decisions on services.
  • Produces accurate and timely reporting of Project status throughout its life cycle.
  • Analyzes and mitigates Project issues and risks.
  • Acts as a lead to other IT Project managers, providing mentoring, advice, and training.

General Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Bachelor’s degree required.  Bachelor’s in Information Technology or Business preferred.

Experience:    5 or more years of experience in IT Project Management required. 3 or more years of professional work experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI PgMP required within 36 months of hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional project management, time management, facilitation and organization skills
  • Outstanding working knowledge of Change Management principles.
  • Experience working with Project Portfolio Management tools, like MS Project, ServiceNow, Workfront, Daptiv, Planview
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Exceptional consulting skills to quickly adapt and develop approaches to solving complex issues.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. Strong influence skills and ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to maintain integrity and trust among leadership and staff 
  • Proven ability to manage a team of professionals and lead a departmental function
  • Demonstrated business acumen.
  • Demonstrated business understanding and ability to balance people/ organizational decisions with business considerations.
  • Experience using metrics to drive decisions and working with external vendors.
  • Must be a strategic thinker, self-motivated and have excellent problem solving and project management skills
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple high priority deliverables
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools
