General Description: Under the general direction of the Director of Oklahoma Children’s Pharmacy at the Pediatric Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the management of the pediatric clinical pharmacy services and at OU Health.
Essential Responsibilities:

- Establishes, coordinates, implements and provides all aspects of pediatric clinical pharmacy activities with emphasis on therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical pathways, formulary management, pharmacoeconomics and patient outcomes.
- Develops and implements policies, practices and procedures for pediatric clinical pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission and other regulatory standards including the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.
- Responsible for the operational management of assigned pediatric clinical service areas in accordance with hospital philosophies, goals and objectives to ensure the consistent provision of high-quality patient care and clinical service growth.
- Serves as the primary liaison to the OU College of Pharmacy for experiential/residency programs.
- Facilitates the development, implementation and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, appropriate and cost-effective medication therapies.
- Provides management interventions related to pharmacy related issues of patient care through communication with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals.
- Supervises pediatric clinical pharmacy staff and is responsible for interviewing, hiring, coaching, evaluating and disciplining staff.
- Actively participates in the professional development of staff through delegation, counseling related to performance progress and completes performance evaluation forms as scheduled.
- In consultation with the Medication Safety Manager, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for implementation, management and reporting of the medication safety program at The Children’s Hospital including integration of medication safety initiatives, activities and changes with clinical and operational department programs and committees.
- Identifies opportunities for proactive change in the medication-use system to improve clinical efficacy, operational efficiency, and patient safety.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited pharmacy degree program.
- Completion of a PGY1 ASHP- accredited residency program required.
- Completion of PGY2 ASHP-accredited residency program with emphasis on pediatrics preferred.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a Pharmacy setting required. Pediatrics experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:
- Licensed as a Doctor of Pharmacy (D.Ph.) by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy required.
- If licensed in a state that is not Oklahoma, must be licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of employment.
- Certificate as a preceptor by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy when eligible.
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS)preferred, pediatric specialty preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current pharmacy related rules, regulations, requirements, best practices, and standards.
- Knowledge related to one or more of the clinical service areas.
- Supervisory skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in the management skills of planning, controlling, coordinating and measuring departmental activities.
