General Description: Under the general direction of the OUH Pharmacy System lead, the retail pharmacy manager is responsible and accountable for overseeing the daily business operations of a pharmacy to include but not limited to leading, directing, and managing Pharmacists and technicians performance and ensuring team member engagement. Ensures the professional growth and development of all pharmacy staff. Responsible for driving overall compliance and business results of the pharmacy across operations, quality, clinical outcomes, and growth. Ensures proper pharmacy practice including but not limited to monitoring/evaluating/implementing prescription drug orders, dispensing prescription drug and device orders, educating patients on the proper use or delivery of medication, providing immunizations, completing drug regimen reviews, providing patient counseling, and medication therapy management. Responsible for compounding and labeling of drugs and devices and proper and safe storage of drugs and devices. Acts as a full-time pharmacist in their home store. The pharmacy manager is also accountable that all pharmacy and employee license numbers stay current and are in good standing.

- PIC Requirements. Upholding the board of pharmacy, state, and federal law, ensuring all pharmacy personnel complies with all requirements of federal and state pharmacy and drug laws, rules, and regulations.
- Supervises Staff. Accountable for hiring, training, providing direction, supervising, performance evaluations, and disciplinary action of staff pharmacists, technicians, and interns.
- Diversion Prevention. Maintains appropriate controlled substance inventories and ensures controlled substances are being stored and dispensed appropriately. Ensures a diversion protocol is established and enforced.
- Customer Service. Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience. Monitors customer service provided by team members and offers reminders, training, encouragement, and develops plans for improvement. Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating customer needs and proactively offering services. Enhances customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services to improving health outcomes and quality of life.
- Fills Prescriptions. Compounds and dispenses medications, following prescriptions issued by physician, dentist or other authorized medical practitioner.
- Medication Preparation. Weighs, measures, and mixes drugs and other medicinal compounds, and fills bottles or capsules with correct quantity and composition of preparation.
- Medication Administration. Ensures that patient understands prescribed instructions and advises patient regarding storage for prescription medication.
- Medication Storage. Stores and preserves biological, vaccines, serums, and other drugs subject to deterioration, utilizing refrigeration and other methods.
- Supply Maintenance. Orders and maintains supply of drugs and other pharmaceuticals.
- Provide Instruction. May instruct interns and oversee the work of pharmacy technicians.
- Record Maintenance. Maintains records on all prescriptions filled and computes and records charges for billing purposes.
- Professional Information. Provides information to physician and other staff members on availability of new drugs, warnings on currently marketed drugs, and incompatibility of certain drugs.
- Performance Improvement (PI) Coordination. Collaborate with the pharmacy team to develop and implement a comprehensive Performance Improvement (PI) plan. Assist in setting measurable goals for the the PI Plan that directly impact patient care and pharmacy operations. Coordinate, participate in and oversee PI activities to ensure their successful execution. Track and report PI outcomes to measure progress towards goals and identify areas for improvement.
General Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited pharmacy degree program.
Experience: 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a Pharmacy setting required.
Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: Licensed as a Doctor of Pharmacy (D.Ph.) by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy. Certificate as a preceptor by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy when eligible. Subsequent to orientation/training, must be proficient in intravenous admixture skills.
BLS certification and Immunization Administration Certificate preferred. If Pharmacist holds an Immunization Administration Certification, BLS certification will be required.
