Director of Optical Services - Dean McGee Eye Institute

Department:

Job Description:

Direct and coordinates the activities of all optical services personnel.  Responsible for designing and implementing administrative policies and procedures, as well as evaluating optical services rendered.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

  • Interview and select personnel.

  • Conduct performance appraisal of employees.

  • Approves time cards and working hours.

  • Prepares supplies and equipment purchase requisitions.

  • Maintain patient care supply stock.

  • Review and authorize invoices for payment that are in relation to this department.

  • Assign and supervise all department personnel to support patient census, and in providing outstanding patient care.

  • Make minor repairs and adjustments to optical services equipment.

  • Obtains quotes for optical services equipment cost, and need for budget purposes.

General Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience required.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

  • None required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Requirements

  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Ability to operate in a team effort.
