General Description

The Administrative Manager of Specialty Pharmacy Business Development will manage OU Health’s pharmacy business development efforts in the areas of Specialty Pharmacy, pharmacy contracting, and management and oversight of specialty pharmacy vendors hired by OU Health. This position will assist in the design of a pharmacy business development system, and will maintain a system for strong relationships with physicians and other key stakeholders.  Will maximize quality and financial performance by service line based on physician practice patterns and therapeutic selection. Supports growth of the specialty pharmacy program as well as enhanced physician satisfaction of pharmacy services related to specialty pharmacy.

  • Assists in management of the specialty pharmacy’s financial performance.

  • Contributes to strategic planning and is responsible for implementing specialty pharmacy development efforts, focusing on providers and other community referral sources as well as looking at gaps in patient access to specialty medications as well as navigating through payor and PBM restrictions.

  • Responsible for internal and external target identification (by specific referral groups and percentages); PBM rate targets, and action plans to evaluate the effectiveness of the internal and third-party arrangement for Specialty & Ambulatory Pharmacy Services delivery

  • Responsible for collection of data needed for due diligence and pro-forma preparation for execution of Specialty & Ambulatory Pharmacy Services strategy

  • Coordinates, holds, and leads specialty pharmacy development efforts and key stakeholder meetings

  • Works with Financial Services, Information Systems, and Strategic Planning to execute the global specialty pharmacy plan.

  • Maintains demand and utilization data for Specialty & Ambulatory Pharmacy Services along with tracking and reporting performance achieved on monthly and quarterly basis

  • Responsible for financial, clinical, and patient satisfaction related KPIs, ensuring the data is collected and reported monthly on an executive scorecard presented to leadership on a monthly basis.

  • Responsible for the development, management, and completion of projects to support the goals, objectives, and accountabilities of Specialty & Ambulatory Pharmacy Services

  • Actively participates in the professional development of staff through delegation and counseling related to performance progress.

General Responsibilities

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy. A BS in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree required.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 years of progressive leadership experience required, including prior experience in a healthcare environment with emphasis on specialty and ambulatory pharmacy services development. Proven experience in provider relations a must.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

  • Licensed Pharmacist by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory standards related to 340B, including the regulations of HRSA.

  • Knowledge of Specialty & Ambulatory Pharmacy Services in academic medical setting;

  • Knowledge of 340B program compliance preferred.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be proficient in the management skills of planning, controlling, coordinating and measuring departmental activities with skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and respond to variability based on organizational needs.

  • Ability to achieve targeted results in a complex, interdisciplinary environment.
