Radiology Student Technologist- PRN

Department:

Adult MRI

Job Description:

Under direct supervision, the Radiology Student Technologist supports the radiology department by assisting in patient care and imaging procedures under the supervision of registered technologists and radiologists. This role is designed for students actively enrolled in an accredited radiology technology program, providing hands-on learning experience in a clinical environment to complement academic studies.

Essential Responsibilities

Patient Care and Interaction

  • Greet and prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients to alleviate any concerns and promote understanding
  • Assist patients in positioning and support during imaging exams

Technical Assistance

  • Assist registered technologists with exams, including setting up equipment, preparing exam rooms, and positioning patients
  • Observe and practice modality safe standards for patients, self, and team members
  • Monitor equipment functionality and ensure cleanliness and readiness of imaging rooms

Image Processing and Quality Control

  • Aid in image processing ensuring images meet quality standards
  • Review images for clarity and completeness

Administrative Support

  • Document patient information, procedure details in electronic medical record as required
  • Coordinate with other departments to facilitate patient care
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Radiology Technology program
Experience: None
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of radiology procedures, equipment, surface, anatomy, medical terminology as it relates to radiological work, and safety procedures and measures.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients and other team members.
  • Willingness to learn and accept feedback.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in a clinical environment.
  • Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines.
